PrintPDF

This is a piece of software used to provide a 'front end' to Ghostscript. Instead of saving to a directory somewhere
and having to go into the printer dialogue box and change the path in File this program does it for you.
If you regularly produce PDF files for others or relocation to other machines for printing it is invaluable.
The downloaded PrintPDF archive has instructions inside but here are a few visuals that may assist
1. Open the Printers icon on the iconbar and drop PSLevel2 (or appropriate driver onto Printers control window)

To rename PS driver to suit your needs go to Postscript printer configuration and change name at top. (below)
a3.jpg - 37Kb

Go to the Postscript printer connection option and set the File to 'ON' by clicking on button.
Also set path to (replace [ with arrowbracket to match other end) [Wimp$ScrapDir>.PrintPDF.printout/ps (Below)
a1a.jpg - 38Kb

Once this is done click on Set.Set. The directions from the PrintPDF file are below.
You are best to have Ghostscript and PrintPDF in the same directory. e.g.

Then when you want a PDF document you select the PDF driver on the iconbar as your printer, tell it to print, in a few seconds a dialogue box opens to allow you to name the file and to drag it somewhere to save, then it proceeds to make the PDF. If it is a large document (I've recently done a 130page book with many jpegs in) it is a case of going for a cuppa while it does its thing.

Part of the instructions inside the PrintPDF archive

Setting up Printers -------------------

Although PrintPDF can be used without changing the configuration of Printers, setting up a dedicated printer definition which prints to a PostScript file in the PrintPDF queue allows the PDF creation process to be simplified.

First, load PrintPDF so that its icon is on the iconbar. Next, load Printers, and select 'Printer control...' from the iconbar menu to open the Printer control window. Locate the printer definition files supplied with your machine, and drag the PoScript2 file from the Postscript directory to the window. This should add a new printer, with the name "PoScript2".

Click Menu over the new printer's line, and select 'Connection...' to open the Connections dialogue. Select 'File' at the bottom of the list, click on the pop-up menu icon to the right of the field, and drag the file from the save dialogue to the PrintPDF icon on the iconbar to set the filename.

Make sure that 'Append to file' is not ticked, then click on 'Set' to update the details.

Click Menu over the name again, and select 'Configure...' from the menu to open the PostScript printer configuration dialogue. In the 'Name' field, enter "PDF" to allow the new printer definition to be identified. Tick 'Colour', then click on 'OK' to set the changes.

On the iconbar, select the printer which you wish to use as your default, then select 'Save choices' from the iconbar menu to save the changes for future use.

I personally don't have PrintPDF loaded to the iconbar automatically but load it from the PDF directory I have inside Printing when required.
